Roof replacement and repair in Spartanburg, SC
Harrell Roofing is a family firm in its second generation, with three yards around Spartanburg. The people on this page are the ones who answer for your roof.

The people on your roof
Twenty-five of us work out of three yards. These six are the people you deal with before, during and after the job.

Owner and president
Took over the office from her father and reads every contract before it goes out.

Operations and yards
Runs the three yards and the crew schedule. If a truck is late, he is the one to call.

Estimator and roof inspector
Walks the roof, looks in the attic, then writes the estimate and the photo report.

Crew lead
Leads the tear-off and install crews. Checks the deck, the flashing and the cleanup at the end of every day.

Safety and training
Checks every harness, lanyard and anchor before a crew goes up, and trains new hires.
Founder
Started the company with one truck and a ladder. Still stops by the main yard.
How the firm got here
From one truck to a second family at the wheel.
Roosevelt Harrell started roofing houses around Spartanburg with one truck and a ladder. He did the estimates, the tear-offs and the cleanup himself.
As the work grew he hired a crew and taught them his way: look at the whole roof, and put what you find in writing.
Kenya moved into the office and the contracts. Demetrius moved onto the crews and the schedule. Both had spent summers on their father's roofs.
Yards in Spartanburg, Boiling Springs and Woodruff put a truck closer to most jobs. The company's name is still the family's, and so is the signature on the contract.
What we roof
Most of our work is shingle roofs on houses in and around Spartanburg. Metal and other materials are quoted after a visit.

A full tear-off, a look at the deck, and new shingles or metal panels, started and finished by one crew.
How a replacement goes
We find the one place the water gets in and fix that first, then send you photos of the work.
How we repair
A roof walk, an attic look and photos, written up for a homeowner's file or for a sale.
What the visit isSelling or buying a house?
When a roof comes up in a sale, agents and buyers need something in writing. We walk the roof, look in the attic and write down what we found.
The report says what the roof is made of, what shape each slope is in and whether we would repair or replace. A buyer's inspector may see more, and the report says what we could not reach.

In their words
“Rohan walked the roof, then the attic, and showed me photos of the rotted decking before anyone started. The price per bad sheet was on the estimate, and the final bill matched it.”
“My buyers wanted to know the roof's condition before closing. The report had photos of every slope and a plain recommendation, and the seller's side could read it too.”
“It was one pipe flashing. Timothy's crew fixed that one spot, sent me pictures and never tried to sell me a roof.”

Before you call
Architectural asphalt shingles usually last 25 to 30 years and basic three-tab shingles 15 to 20. Metal runs 40 to 70. In the Upstate, summer heat, shade and attic ventilation move those numbers up or down, so we look at your roof before we guess.
It depends on the roof's size in squares, how steep it is, the material, how many layers come off, and what we find in the deck. We don't quote a number before we have seen the roof, and the written estimate lists what it includes.
Most houses take one to three days. A large, steep or metal roof takes longer, and a wet forecast can add a day.
Usually, for a full replacement. Your estimate says who pulls it and what the fee is, so it isn't a surprise on the last day.
Yes. We walk the roof, look in the attic and write down the material, the condition by slope and whether we would repair or replace. A buyer's inspector may see more, and the report says what we could not reach.
Two kinds, from two different companies. The shingle maker backs the material, and we back our own workmanship. Both are written down, with the terms, before you sign.
Send your ZIP code and a phone number, or call. We will set a day for the visit and write down what we find.
